Volunteer opportunities

Would you like to join our team of volunteer counsellors?
HYCS periodically runs recruitment programmes for counselling professionals who want to join our service as a volunteer counsellor.

To apply to become a volunteer counsellor you must be either a qualified humanistic counsellor or a trainee counsellor who has completed at least 2 years humanistic counsellor training (1 year skills and theory and 1 year on diploma/degree course).

All of our volunteer counsellors are counselling professionals registered with the BACP, UKCP or similar. Before joining, our volunteers go through a rigorous HYCS selection programme and benefit from extensive, specialist training in working with young people through HYCS.

If you would like to join our team – please watch this space for details of our next recruitment programme.

Are you looking for an office-based volunteer post?
If you would like to provide admin’ support for our work and might be interested in assisting with admin’ jobs such as data entry, filing, and general office duties, then please contact ask@hycscounselling.co.uk to see if we are currently looking for any help.

Please contact us to see how we might work together.

If you enjoy using apps and would like to be one of our HYCS team of app testers in your spare time to use and then review mental health and wellbeing support apps, please contact us at ask@hycscounselling.co.uk.

Our team of testers pre-assess apps for safety, enjoyment and of course whether they are supportive, using a simple, standard form.  Their work has been really helpful in identifying apps to suggest to our client base.

If you are aged 11-25, are enthusiastic and would like to represent the voice of young people within our organisation and  help to shape our service, please contact us at ask@hycscounselling.co.uk

• Apply for Youth Committee - please contact us to ask for an application form.

The Role of a Trustee
Becoming a charity Trustee is one of the most important roles in the voluntary sector. Our Trustees help to give direction to the charity and are ultimately responsible for its activities. The Trustees' skills and experience are invaluable to the further development and growth of HYCS.
