The Role of a Trustee
Becoming a charity Trustee is one of the most important roles in the voluntary sector. Our Trustees help to give direction to the charity and are ultimately responsible for its activities. The Trustees' skills and experience are invaluable to the further development and growth of HYCS.

- Friday 27th September 6.00pm – 7.30pm

About HYCS
HYCS is a BACP-accredited service , committed to the highest professional standards.  We periodically recruit volunteer, humanistic counsellors to offer midweek, daytime and evening counselling sessions at our Isleworth centre for 11-25 year old clients in the Hounslow Borough.

All of our volunteer counsellors are counselling professionals registered with the BACP, UKCP or similar. Before joining, our volunteers undergo a rigorous HYCS' selection programme and benefit from supervision and extensive, specialist training in working with young people through HYCS.

Application Criteria
You can download the full recruitment  pack and information using the links above.  To apply for consideration, candidates must fit the following criteria:

❑ Have completed a minimum of one year humanistic counselling training (skills & theory) at certificate level.
❑ Are continuing their humanistic counsellor training on a Diploma or Degree level training course.
- You will be registered with the BACP or UKCP and committed (if qualified) to working towards BACP or UKCP accreditation.
❑ Are interested in working with young people from age 11 to 25 years old
❑ Will be available to see clients for 3 sessions 6 - 9pm one evening a week (Mon, Tues, Wed or Thurs)
❑ Have the time and energy for supervision, training and periodic team and agency development meetings
❑ Will meet our selection criteria

For those counsellors who do join us we offer:
❑ Regular monthly clinical supervision with one of our experienced external supervisors – (HYCS pays for this)
❑ On going in-house training
❑ Managerial support
❑ Team support
❑ Experience of working in a voluntary sector agency
❑ The opportunity to develop skills and experience of working with young people in a supportive environment.

Our recruitment and selection process is designed to enable both the Service and the applicants to make an
informed, realistic decision about whether our way of working matches. The process involves:
❑ Attendance at one of our information sessions
❑ Application form
❑ Interview
❑ Assessment weekend
❑ Core training
❑ Induction

If you are 11-25 and enjoy using apps and would like to be one of our HYCS team of volunteer app testers in your spare time to use and then review mental health and wellbeing support apps, please contact us at ask@hycscounselling.co.uk.

Our team of testers pre-assess apps for safety, enjoyment and of course whether they are supportive, using a simple, standard form.  Their work has been really helpful in identifying apps to suggest to our client base.
